Getting the door panel to come off safely isn't as simple as you make it sound at least on the door I worked on .... To begin with , I was working on a 2004 Ford F-150. The truck was not equipped with power windows and there were no electrical connections to the mirror .Apparently, this vehicle was a base model . I removed the two screws at the underside of the passenger door panel . I popped off the little door at the door hanle with a small flat screwdriver and took out the two screws that secure the panel to the inner door .Next, I removed the speaker and unplugged its electrical connection . One last thing to remove and that's the crank up window handle , if so equipped . To do this step, turn the crank east-west (horizontally) , get a flat screwdriver and slip the flat between the crank and the panel and gently turn the screwdriver back and forth . This will unsnap the outer window crank cover . Rotate the cover out of the way and use a torx bit driver to remove the little screw that holds the crank onto its spindle. By the way , I was doing this in order to replace the outside mirror that broke when the owner of the truck tagged a mailbox .You should be able ,at this point , to bump the door panel up an inch and pull toward you to remove it from the door . BUT, there's one more important step . reinstall a speaker screw (just a few threads) into each of the two lower speaker plastic inserts that were left in the metal part of the inner door . Get a pair of common pliers and gently remove these two inserts by rocking them and applying a pulling pressure .Now the door panel can be pushed upward an inch or so and pulled to you to remove . If you are doing this job in order to replace the outside mirror , then there is one more little tip I'd like to pass along .The new replacement mirror that was purchased from our local Ford dealer had three mounting studs to attach the mirror to the door . We removed the three nuts from the mirror we were removing but still could not get the mirror to come off . Upon closer inspection we found there is one more mounting stud and nut holding the mirror on . This nut was under the plastic moisture barrier and inside the the door beyond where the other three nuts were located . Maybe all year F150 are not this way but the 2004 I worked on was built like this . Go slow , be gentle and Happy Mechanicing . Jeff S.
